A Fine Bowler

There are three varieties of bowler/derby hats available in 2023: cheap, costume hats; mid-grade wool felt efforts, and top-grade fur felt lids.

This hat is a fine example of the mid-grade. It’s nicely made, fits well (which is tough for me; my misshapen noggin runs just between 7-1/4 and 7-3/8 and no one but a bespoke fitter makes a 7-5/16 hat! The former is painful, the latter can be a little droopy but this hat fits fine…) and the hatband is properly sized. For the price, I believe the Conner to be a worthwhile topper.

What you’d get with a real fur felt lid is a smoother sheen and maybe a one-piece silk lining with a leather sweatband. You’d also get a price tag close to $300.00 USD in this era and to get a bespoke hat fitted at 7-5/16, well—I like having two kidneys and this Connor topper.

So if you are a gent fervently trying to bring good hats back into fashion, this here product is an excellent start and will look good on darn near any cabeza! Nice quality, buy with confidence.

Starting a trend

This and my other Conner hat "Jubilee Steampunk Top Hat" solicit lots of inquisitive comments (and stares). Comments like - "that looks smart" are not uncommon. Fine quality, proud to be wearing it. Sets one apart from the baseball cap crowd. It not a question of wanting to project myself as being "someone I'm not". This hat says who I am.
