It's best to spot clean all cloth hats with a damp cloth using cold water, or hand-wash in a sink if necessary. We recommend using plant-based soaps because regular detergents can be toxic for our waterways.
Always let your hat dry naturally. If your hat gets out of shape, you can use steam from a tea kettle to reshape it. Hold the hat in the steam and allow it to soften. You can then reshape your hat to its original shape and then let it cool down before wearing.
Another option to take out wrinkles on the brim is to place a clean rag or old T-shirt over the wrinkled area then iron the area.
We moved from Australia to live in France 7 years ago. My sons, husband and I learnt the importance of sun protection in our years in Australia. (As Brits it wasnt something we'd previously had to worry about!). Now we all love wearing hats, all purchased from your store. I have 3, my family each have 2, the first bought last year (the Aussie Golf Soakable Mesh hats, very much alike in style to these hats).
These hats are lightweight and cool to wear, very well made and beautiful to look at. A very good price too. My adult sons love their latest hats, and look great in them, so much smarter, and more protective in the sun, than the cheap caps we see around. We will continue to purchase 1 each every year. The fact you plant 12 trees per every hat sold is also wonderful, and will ensure I remain a yearly , loyal customer of Connahs Hats.
Delivery to France was also seamless and efficient!
Thank you for your great service
I bought my 1st hat in 1998 in Karratha,WA. I wore it in the sun for almost 30 years, when it got chewed up in my mower. This new one is somewhat sturdier so I am hoping for many more years of wear.
Thanks for your kind review and here's to many more years! Enjoy and stay sun safe!
The wide brim helps to protect my ears, neck and face from the sun. The mesh crown helps keep my head cool. Headed to the FLA Panhandle next week, so I am glad I have this hat for the trip. Anxious to see how well it returns to shape after being packed in a suitcase.
Be sure to look up our hat care tips on how you can get your hat back to tip top shape!
I’ve used this hat as a sideline swimming judge in the beating sun and pouring rain in coastal Virginia. Works great. I’ve taken it hiking in Guam numerous times and it is relatively cool (upper 80’s with 80% + humidity) while protecting me from the sun. Chin strap comes in handy in the wind. I probably need to reshape it, but it is well loved.
Marine Corp Drive has to be one of the best scenice roads I've been on in my travels in the Pacific. I took my then pregnant wife and my 2 year old and we loved everybit of it.
Getting back to your hat, let me recommend these to items for keeping the hat waterproof and shaping the hat.
1. NikWax for waterproofing. Here's a link to the landing page and it includes a video on how to apply it: https://connerhats.com/products/nikwax-fabric-leather-waterproofing-spray
2. Bickmore Kahl Hat Stiffener. I would suggest spraying the underside of the brim so that if there's any stain, it is on the underside as opposed to being in full view when it is on the top of the hat: https://connerhats.com/products/bickmore-kahl-hat-stiffener
I borrowed this hat while on vacation. I loved it so much I bought one!! Love the wide brim. It’s saved my face and neck!!
