Awesome looking hat. Have received many compliments.
Love this hat! I really like that it does not have a pronounced taco brim like so many other gambler hats out there. I own several gambler style hats, but I never wear them because they have too much of a taco brim, which does not look good on me personally. So, when looking for a new gambler hat, I specifically wanted one with a flatter brim, or a slight up-curl and this hat seemed to fit the bill. I took a chance and bought this hat, and I am really glad I did. The hat was exactly what I was looking for. Out of the box the hat was beautiful, perfectly shaped, and indeed featured a flatter brim when compared to my other gambler hats. I also like that this hat features a taller crown. So many fedora style hats these days, especially the gambler style hats come with short/shallow crowns preventing a secure and stable fit. And finally, the hat band is also very cool looking too. Fit: My head size is 23.35" and I typically wear a 7 3/8-7 1/2 or 59-60 hat size. I purchased the large size, and it fits me just a tad loose which was remedied by placing felt strips inside the sweatband. Easy fix. I would buy this hat again.
I am a professional Santa and the burgundy color is perfect for my off season look.
I get a ton of compliments on this hat I love it!
I have never been a hat guy, but at 70 years old and thinning hair, I saw this hat and love it. My wife loved the look on me, and I’ve gotten lots of compliments on it. I can see why it’s called the Gambler, because when I wear it I get lucky😁!
The hat arrived yesterday, and I have to say, I am quite pleased. It fit my long oval head true to size (using the size chart here.) The leather is plenty thick to stand up to solid use, and the stitching seems well done and solid. Right out of the box, I removed the band and deeply conditioned the hat, band, and sweatband with a high quality conditioner. Last night I wore it for about five and a half hours at an event and found it to be quite comfortable. The photo shows it today, moments after I returned inside from a rainstorm.
What did surprise me about the hat is that the edge of the brim, and the inner seam at the top of the crown are finished with some sort of plastic, not leather. Looking at it, I believe that this is to help with the 'crushability' of the hat. It seems to provide some level of firm structure that might not be present without it. Particularly in the crown which just bounces right back after being squeezed.
The best part of the hat is the leather sweatband (not really a band as it doesn't go all the way around, but it's placed where it is needed.) Most makers of this style of hat seem to either use elastic, which is very uncomfortable with long term wear, or some other fabric that won't stand the test of time. This BC hat is how it should be done.
All in all, I'm very pleased with the purchase.
I wanted to do this review a long time ago but never got around to doing it. I bought my hat in August of 2019, 6 years ago. I bought the “Buster Wool Fedora” in the “putty” color. For those that don’t know putty is a soft, muted, earthy neutral color that looks for similar to the beige or is beige.
I looked all over the internet (and I’m not joking) for places that sold a Fedora hat that looked great and hat all the classic features of the fedora hats worn long ago. All of the places on the internet didn’t get it right, except one, and that one is Conner Hats. To this day I have not seen a better looking fedora hat than the Conner Buster Wool Fedora putty hat. If you’re thinking about buying a new fedora hat you can’t beat the Conner Buster Wool Fedora for fit and finish. Everyone who saw me in this hat has complimented me. Thanks Conner hats!
