    What are they made of?

    Most are Australian wool felt, from non-mulesed sheep. The American Cowboy is a wool and cashmere blend. Each product page lists the exact material, brim width and crown height.

    Are these felt hats sun-protective?

    The American Cowboy, with its 4¼" brim, is rated UPF 50+. For the other hats, check the UPF shown on each product page. We tested our materials with ARPANSA, and we do not give a rating to any hat with open mesh or a brim under 2.5".

    How do I find my size?

    Measure around your head just above the ears and use our hat size chart.

    Felt is the classic cowgirl hat for cooler months, rodeos and nights out. Ours are made with Australian wool. Pick the shape you love: a gambler like the Quincy or Arizona for a flat, low crown; a cattleman like the Austin Cattleman for a tall, creased crown; or a shapeable western like the Outlaw or Dakota that you can set your own way.

    Some are stiff on purpose for a crisp shape, like the Stagecoach and Hat Bar Rancher. Others are crushable and forgive the odd squash.

    Ours are made with Australian wool felt. Wool sheds light rain and keeps its shape with a little care.

    Many of our wool hats are crushable: they can be crushed flat for a short time and pop back into shape. Some are stiff on purpose for a crisp western shape and should not be crushed, including the Stagecoach, the American Cowboy, The American Cattleman, the Austin Cattleman and the Hat Bar Rancher. Crushable is not the same as packable.

    It depends on how often you wear it and how you care for it. A felt hat usually lasts 10 to 15 years, and our wool outback hats can last 30 years or more.

    Measure around your head just above the ears and across the middle of your forehead, then match the number to our hat size chart. Our hats run true to size, and two free size inserts help you fine-tune the fit.
