Accessibility Statement

Our commitment

Conner Hats is a small family business, and we want everyone to be able to browse, choose and buy a hat on connerhats.com, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, voice control, magnification or other assistive technology.

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. These guidelines are the international standard for accessible websites. Accessibility is ongoing work, and we know parts of the site may not yet fully meet every guideline.

What we do

  • Monthly checks. Every month we run an automated accessibility scan of our main pages (home page, collections, product pages, cart, search and hat guides) and test the full shopping path with a keyboard only: menus, search, filters, product options, add to cart, the cart and checkout.
  • Fixing the site itself. When we find a problem, we fix it in our store's code rather than relying on an overlay.
  • Image descriptions. Every product photo has a written description (alt text) so screen-reader users know what each hat looks like.
  • Keyboard use. You can reach menus, product options, the cart and checkout with the Tab, Enter and Escape keys, and a "Skip to content" link appears as the first item when you press Tab.

Accessibility toolbar

You can adjust the site to suit you with the accessibility toolbar (the round button on the left side of the screen). Its options include:

  • Ready-made profiles: Reader, Blind Users, Seizure Safe, ADHD Friendly, Cognitive, Visually Impaired, Motor Impaired and Elderly Users
  • Text: font size, dyslexia-friendly font, line and letter spacing, font weight, text alignment, reading guide and reading mask
  • Highlighting links and headings
  • Color: contrast modes, color saturation, color filters and inverted colors
  • Navigation: big cursor, text magnifier, screen reader, keyboard navigation, voice navigation and a virtual keyboard
  • Stopping animations, muting sound and hiding images or video

The toolbar is a convenience. It does not replace the work we do on the site itself.

Features provided by other companies

Some features on our site come from outside providers, including product reviews, live chat, returns and package protection, the add-on offer that can appear when you add a hat to your cart, and checkout (run by Shopify). We test these as part of our monthly checks, work around problems where we can, and report issues to the providers. Some of these features may not fully meet WCAG 2.2 AA.

Need help or found a problem?

If anything on our site is hard to use, please tell us. We can also help you choose a hat or place your order by phone.

Please tell us the page address and what happened. We aim to reply within 5 business days, and we use every report to improve the site.
