Hat Size Chart

Hat sizing is not an exact science — natural materials vary slightly from batch to batch. An accurate head measurement is the place to start, and we back it up: two free size inserts ship with every order, and our team will help if the fit is not right.

How to measure your head

  1. Use a soft measuring tape or a piece of string that does not stretch.

  2. Place it on your forehead and measure the circumference about 1/2 inch (1.5 cm) above your ears — where the hat actually sits.

  3. If you are using string, hold it against a ruler to read the length.

  4. Measure twice and get the same number twice to be sure.

  5. If you fall between sizes, choose the next size up.

Some styles use a stretch band covering two sizes, and some ladies raffia styles come in One Size Up. Each product page shows the chart that applies to that hat.

HOW TO FIND YOUR CORRECT HAT SIZE

Even the most accurate measurement of your head (which we will teach you here) doesn’t always mean the hat you receive will be a perfect fit. There are many factors that can get in the way of receiving the perfect fit on the first try. One is the use of natural materials. Sometimes leather or certain straw hats for example can be slightly thicker or thinner with each batch of material, even when sewing a hat the technician can use a little bit less or more pressure and the size will be slightly affected. So hat sizing isn’t an exact science but an accurate measurement of your head is a good place to start. That along with working with a hat brand that cares about you getting the perfect hat for you. WE PROVIDE FREE SIZE INSERTS IN EVERY ORDER JUST INCASE YOU NEED THEM.

Does the hat brand you are considering offer free sizing tape in case the hat is slightly too large? We add 2 free size inserts in every order, if you need more please contact us!

 LETS GET STARTED ON YOUR HAT SIZE

  • Use a soft measuring tape or a piece of string (not elasticized or stretchy).
  • Place the tape measure or string on your forehead and measure the circumference about 1/2 inch or 1.5cm above your ears, about where your hat would sit.

  • If you have another hat that shows the size, you can use that information. 
  • Check the length of the tape measure or string to determine your size. (if using a string, hold it up against a ruler)
  • Use the size charts on the product pages to find your perfect fit. For example, if your measurement comes to 22 inches or 56cm, then you would choose a size Medium hat.
  • Make sure you measure your head multiple times and get 2 measurements that are the same to be 100% sure.

*If you fall in between sizes, choose the next biggest size. We will send two free size inserts with every hat ordered, just incase your hat needs a slight reduction. If you need more than 2 please reach out we can send you more.

See the size charts above. Your hat is either an individual size like Small or Medium or Large etc. or uses a stretch band that covers 2 sizes like Small/Medium and Large/X-Large. Each size can cover a slight range but that is OK, choose the size in your range.
