This hat has the look of leather or oil cloth. Waterproof and such a great newsboy style.
What is weathered cotton? It's a mixture of cotton and polyester that gives the hat a leather-like look and feel, as well as water resistant capabilities.
It's best to spot clean all cloth hats with a damp cloth using cold water, or hand-wash in a sink if necessary. We recommend using plant-based soaps because regular detergents can be toxic for our waterways.
Always let your hat dry naturally. If your hat gets out of shape, you can use steam from a tea kettle to reshape it. Hold the hat in the steam and allow it to soften. You can then reshape your hat to its original shape and then let it cool down before wearing.
Another option to take out wrinkles on the brim is to place a clean rag or old T-shirt over the wrinkled area then iron the area.
When weekends arrive and I need to run errands and don't want to try making my thinning hair look halfway decent, a cap is the answer. Just put it on and go. I like the look of the flat caps when my husband wears them, but not so much on me. This cap is sort of flat, but with a little "bounce" in the center. The finish is also different, somewhat like a worn oilcloth look to it. Haven't had it very long, but have received several compliments when wearing it.
I love the cap, the fit and finish. It is very comfortable and lightweight and the look is just terrific. I did have a problem with the stitching breaking and coming loose along the trim on the visor which caused the trim to fall off. I was considering sending the cap back for repair, but figured it wouldn't be worth the expense of shipping, so I just got out a needle and thread and did the simple repair myself. No big deal. I have a bunch of newsboy caps and this one is my favorite.
