It's best to spot clean all cloth hats with a damp cloth using cold water, or hand-wash in a sink if necessary. We recommend using plant-based soaps because regular detergents can be toxic for our waterways.
Always let your hat dry naturally. If your hat gets out of shape, you can use steam from a tea kettle to reshape it. Hold the hat in the steam and allow it to soften. You can then reshape your hat to its original shape and then let it cool down before wearing.
Another option to take out wrinkles on the brim is to place a clean rag or old T-shirt over the wrinkled area then iron the area.
I don’t wear headgear of any kind, but a recent occurrence of melanoma has made me rethink this. I really can’t stand anything on my head, especially ball caps. After trying several brands and styles, I ordered a “cool as a breeze” Conner hat and I have to say that I really like this hat. Lightweight, fits great, blocks the sun off my face and neck and keeps my head cool. Extremely well made. Very happy that I came across this website.
My husband absolutely loves a Conner hat. He now has 5 of them and the only brand he wears!
In 2020, I lost my previous Aussie hat that I had left up in our cabin in the Sierra to the “Creek Fire”. This had been purchased by a friend and Neighbor while visiting Australia at the Police Olympics. On all occasions I wore it with pride and especially for the ventilated Crown during warm weather. When I asked him specifically where he purchased it, all he could recall is that it was at a Men’s Clothing store in Adelaide. He looked on-line and found the Australian hats sold by BC hats and what we both believe is the exact same model. The only thing I changed when ordering it was the color, opting for the green brim and top of crown rather than the brown of the one lost in a Wild Fire. Wearing almost daily now.
You've got a one of a kind hat Mark. Bill Conner (BC) closed his factory down in 2020 for a well deserved retirement after 50 years of making handmade hats.
Enjoy and stay sun safe!
This BC Cool as a Breeze hat is exactly as described. The fit is perfect and the quality is superb. It arrived in just a week, in a hat box, in excellent shape and condition. I look forward to wearing this on all my upcoming outdoor trips.
And it's the last remaining stock of BC Hats we'll ever have. After 50 years of making hand made hats, Bill Conner (BC) retired in 2020.
Enjoy and stay sun safe!
The XL fit a bit snug, but has grown on me. A loose chin strap secures hat in high gusts. Highly fashionable. Maintains cool temp. Highly recommend. The only thing I would change is the height of the mesh. Another half inch would help the fit, but maybe not.
