Since I’m in AZ sometimes it’s chilly on hikes in the winter. This hat is far preferable to the usual mesh hats we wear in this part of the world. This hat breathes but doesn’t let your head freeze. Oh, blocks the sun too.

I am getting used to the hat. I like hats with bigger brims and sit deeper on your head. this hat has neither, so I am a little disappointed.

Aussie Surf Cotton Hat

I like working outside in the yard during the summer, but I need to be careful after dealing with a bout of skin cancer. I bought this hat to protect my head and face from the sun.

This Aussie hat is lightweight and airy. The brim is wide enough to keep the sun out of my face. The fit is true to size. The downside is the crown doesn’t have much support and there’s no wiring in the brim to help keep its shape. I do realize that this is a roll up hat.

All in all though, this is a nice sunhat to wear when I’m in the yard working. I have other hats to wear when I’m out running errands or on an outing with my wife.

You are absolutely right that due to it being a hat you can roll up and tuck in your back pocket (if you have a large pocket), it isn't stiff as many others. However, with a hat stiffener, you can get it to stay rigid for a little longer. Look up Kahl Hat Stiffener.
