It's best to spot clean all cloth hats with a damp cloth using cold water, or hand-wash in a sink if necessary. We recommend using plant-based soaps because regular detergents can be toxic for our waterways.
Always let your hat dry naturally. If your hat gets out of shape, you can use steam from a tea kettle to reshape it. Hold the hat in the steam and allow it to soften. You can then reshape your hat to its original shape and then let it cool down before wearing.
Another option to take out wrinkles on the brim is to place a clean rag or old T-shirt over the wrinkled area then iron the area.
Amazing hat, keeps you cool and shaded. Love that it utilizes recycled plastic.
I wasn't sure if Id like a "sun" hat with that wide of a brim but once I tried it on and put it to the test I can honestly say that I REALLY like it. I work outside and my new hat is now a permanent addition to my work truck and I do wear it everyday. It keeps the sun off my face and neck but allows the wind to blow through the mesh sides. Yes, the brim does flex quiet a bit in the breeze, like other reviews have mentioned. It wouldn't work well in a strong wind situation. This hat is perfect for my work situation.
I love the airflow on this hat. I love that it is washable. But the hat is too flimsy. The brim moves about in a breeze much less a little wind. The fit is excellent.
I wear this as a sun hat and it’s great as far as functionality. Mesh keeps my head cool. I have a full head of hair so sun burn is not an issue there. The only complaint is that is the brim sounds like recycled plastic bottles when flexing…. Kinda crunchy. I ordered a sand color but parts look more olive to me.
Other than that…. It is a nice hat and I’m glad I bought it.
Thanks for the positive review. We'll try improve the hat. Also, while the hat is made from recycled plastic bottles, we'll try make sure the brim doesn't sound like a crushed plastic bottle when it flexes.
Connor Hats makes many handsome and stylish hats, though I'm not sure this is one of them. I knew that going in. It's a mesh hat made from recycled plastic, not fine-grain leather. Anyway, it's as light as a feather, the big brim does a great job blocking the sun, and, most importantly, the mesh allows for great airflow. I hiked in 90-degree heat for 5 hours today, and I got zero hat sweat. My hair stayed completely dry under there, which is almost a miracle.
My only complaint is the construction relative to the price. Like another reviewer wrote a few pages back, one side of the hat is actually taller than the other by maybe a centimeter, and it's noticeable. Also, the crown, which is not mesh, is stitched to the mesh unevenly (if you look down at the top of the hat, the stitching varies in distance to the edge of the crown and is not uniform). For $60 of plastic, I'd expect more refined stitch work to justify the price.
I still like the hat and find it useful, and my other Connor Hat (cotton bounty hunter hat) is perfect. Will definitely buy more hats from Connor in the future.
We certainly appreciate your feedback and will work closely with our team to improve quality control on this specific hat. While the owner has access to these reviews, I'll forward it to him so that we may take steps to improve.
